Extrinsic sphere and totally umbilical submanifolds in Finsler spaces
Based on a definition for circle in Finsler space, recently proposed by one of the present authors and Z. Shen, a natural definition of extrinsic sphere in Finsler geometry is given and it is shown that a connected submanifold of a Finsler manifold is totally umbilical and has non-zero parallel mean curvature vector field, if and only if its circles coincide with circles of the ambient...
متن کاملConstructing symplectic forms on 4–manifolds which vanish on circles
Given a smooth, closed, oriented 4–manifold X and α ∈ H2(X,Z) such that α · α > 0, a closed 2–form ω is constructed, Poincaré dual to α, which is symplectic on the complement of a finite set of unknotted circles Z . The number of circles, counted with sign, is given by d = (c1(s) 2−3σ(X)−2χ(X))/4, where s is a certain spin structure naturally associated to ω . AMS Classification numbers Primary...
متن کاملOn the Complexity of Many Faces in Arrangements of Circles
We obtain improved bounds on the complexity of m distinct faces in an arrangement of n circles and in an arrangement of n unit circles. The bounds are worst-case tight for unit circles, and, for general circles, they nearly coincide with the best known bounds for the number of incidences between m points and n circles.
متن کامل1 Immersed Submanifold and Restricted Dirac Equations : Generalized Weierstrass Relation for a submanifold
Using the submanifold quantum mechanical scheme, the restricted Dirac operator in a submanifold is defined. Then it is shown that the zero mode of the Dirac operator expresses the local properties of the submanifold, such as the Frenet-Serret and generalized Weierstrass relations. In other words this article gives a representation of a further generalized Weierstrass relations for a general k-s...
متن کاملSubmanifold Sparse Convolutional Networks
Convolutional network are the de-facto standard for analysing spatio-temporal data such as images, videos, 3D shapes, etc. Whilst some of this data is naturally dense (for instance, photos), many other data sources are inherently sparse. Examples include penstrokes forming on a piece of paper, or (colored) 3D point clouds that were obtained using a LiDAR scanner or RGB-D camera. Standard “dense...
